Gujarat Eyes $10 Billion Investment From China

Gujarat Eyes $10 Billion Investment From China
Modi returns home, Chinese investment may follow him
It seems that Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi-led delegation is satisfied with its China visit.
The state is eyeing more than 10% of the total Chinese investment of $100 billion, expected in the country in the next five years. This suggests that Gujarat government is planning to corner at least $10 billion of the investment from China.
At a media interaction organised in the city on Sunday, Maheshwar Sahu, principal secretary, trade and industries department, Gujarat said, “The CM-led visit to China was very fruitful. As per the Central government’s estimates, China is expected to invest around $100 billion in India in the next 4 to 5 years. Gujarat is aiming to attract more than 10% of Chinese investment in the country.”
Representatives of business houses also gave their thumbs up to the visit. During the China trip two business seminars were organised, one at Beijing and another at Chengdu. This was attended by 180 and 200 Chinese business and industrial firms respectively.
“We are inviting companies involved in manufacture of high value-added products to set up their units in the state. We are awaiting the visit of several Chinese business delegations to Gujarat to explore opportunities. We want investment in renewable energy sector. We want solar panel makers to enter the state. We believe at least 200 companies from the country might participate in the next Vibrant
Gujarat Investment Summit in 2013,” added Sahu
